RUMMY for KIDS

Number of Players:

From 2 to 4 players

With this Rummy game box we offer you two game versions, the reduced version designed for children to start playing the game with the possibility of playing for up to 3 players and with 40 tiles (1 to 10 green / 1 to 10 red / 1 to 10 blue and 1 to 10 yellow) and 2 jokers. The extended version with all tiles available and with the possibility of up to 4 players. Both versions have exactly the same rules of play, the only difference is that in the reduced version, by playing with half the tiles, the possibilities of combinations are much less, making the games easier and faster.

Goal of the game :

  • Be the first player to place all the tiles in combinations

How to play :

  • Place all the tiles face down on the table (numbered tiles and wild cards). Each player takes 9 tiles and places them on their wooden rack so that the other players cannot see them. The rest are left face down in the pile. (Reduced version 40 tiles + 2 wild cards) (Extended version 80 tiles + 2 wild cards)

Who starts playing :

  • Each player takes a tile from the pile and the player with the highest value starts. (if two players get the same value, the action must be repeated)

Starting the game:

  • To start playing, at least one combination of GROUPS or SEQUENCES must be formed. Each combination must have at least 3 tiles. This point is very important, no player may play any of their tiles if he has not started playing with at least a combination of 3 tiles that he has in his rack.

GROUP:

    • Three or more tiles of the same number and different color.

GROUP : 3 tiles

GROUP : 4 tiles

SEQUENCE:

EXAMPLE of a game

1) Place all the tiles face down and mix them

  • When the initial player has already placed one or more combinations, their turn ends. If he cannot make any combination, he must take one of the chips from the pile, their turn ends and it is the next player’s turn, and so on.

Each player has randomly chosen 9 chips from the pile, Player 1 starts playing since he has obtained the highest chip.

Player 1 plays his tiles, 8 Red, 8 Blue and 8 Yellow, forming a NEW GROUP of 3 tiles

Player 2 does not have enough tiles to form at least one COMBINATION, GROUP or SEQUENCE of 3 tiles. Therefore, he must take a tile from the Pile and the turn passes to Player 3.

Player 3 forms a new GROUP of three tiles with the RED 7, GREEN 7, BLUE 7 and a SEQUENCE of three tiles with the YELLOW 2, YELLOW 3 and the JOKER.

Player 3 has finished his turn and it is player 1’s turn again, and so on, until one player runs out of tiles to play.

  • We have seen how to start playing and how all the players have played their tiles with the tiles they already had on their rack. All the GROUPS and SEQUENCES placed on the table belong to all the players and each one in their turn can add or remove tiles to create new combinations. From here we will explain how to continue playing, using the following game tactics:

    • Adding  one or more tiles to a SEQUENCE or GROUP
    • Removing one or more tiles from a SEQUENCE or GROUP and Adding one or more tiles to form one or more new combinations
    • Dividing a SEQUENCE to form a new one
    • Removing and Adding the JOKER to form a new GROUP or SEQUENCE . JOKER  must be used in the same turn.
  • All GROUPS and SEQUENCES placed on the table belong to all players and each one in their turn can add or remove tiles to create new combinations.

  • ADDING one or more tiles to a SEQUENCE or a fourth color to a GROUP

Player 3’s turn, ADDING tile 7 Red to the SEQUENCE of 5 tiles

  • ADDING one or more tiles to a SEQUENCE or a fourth color to a GROUP

Player 2’s turn, Adding BLUE tile 9 to the GROUP of 3 tiles, and a new GROUP of 4 tiles is created

  • REMOVING one or more tiles from a SEQUENCE or GROUP and ADDING one or more tiles to form one or more new combinations

Player 3’s turn, REMOVING and ADDING. Remove the BLUE 5 tile from the SEQUENCE of 6 tiles with a Joker and remove the RED 5 tile from the sequence of 4 tiles , to form, together with the GREEN 5 tile, a new GROUP of 3 tiles.

  • DIVIDING  a SEQUENCE to form a new one.

Player 3’s turn, DIVIDING a SEQUENCE to create a new one. Player 3, REMOVES the RED 4 tile from the SEQUENCE of 7 tiles and DIVIDE it, then altogether with the 4 GREEN and 4 BLUE tiles, creating a new combination, a GROUP of 3 tiles.

  • REMOVING and ADDING the JOKER to form a new GROUP or SEQUENCE . JOKER  must be used in the same turn.

Player 1’s turn, REMOVING the JOKER of the sequence of 4  tiles with JOKER. ADDING the blue 9 tile and create a NEW SEQUENCE with the yellow 5, 6 and 8 tiles altogether with the JOKER. JOKER acts in this new SEQUENCE as the yellow 7

  • The game ends when one player runs out of chips.
